Story · Lobbying × Officials
For anyone who assumes lobbyists are strangers to City Hall.
The lobbyist record lists who contacted whom, not who used to sit where. Reading it against the roster of past officeholders, one name surfaced in this six-week window: Ahsha Safai, District 11 supervisor until 2025 and a 2024 mayoral candidate, with about a dozen contacts on behalf of the Building Trades, the Deputy Sheriffs' Association, and matters at Public Health.
One name in six weeks is a starting point, not a pattern. Former staff of the Mayor's office and the Board also lobby; the register does not flag them, and we have not yet matched the full roster.
Ask the Ethics Commission for the register joined to prior city employment, which the city could publish in one column. Until then, this card names only what the record shows.
